On Friday evening (5 November), like good students, all the poets who read at the launch of Difficult to Explain lined up to the left of the stage in preparation to read after an introduction by Finuala Dowling.

And we read, and we read, and we read. Funny poems, sad poems, enlightening poems, personal poems. Poems about hair, appointments, drinking (or not drinking), isolation, disasters, childhood, mothers, adventurers, lovers….each poet, each voice was completely individual and unique. As Finuala commented ‘we even had Ronnie Kasrils rapt’.

I am blessed to be part of such a wonderful anthology amongst such amazing poets.

Thank you Finuala for all your hard work in keeping us inspired (and laughing).
